- Dr. Ajay Kohli, the Deputy Director General for Research of the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI), paid a courtesy visit to President Sugiyama. Dr. Kohli also paid a courtesy visit to the Graduate School of Bioagricultural Sciences and gave an international seminar.

On August 20, 2024, Dr. Ajay Kohli, the Deputy Director General for Research of the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI), paid a courtesy visit to President Sugiyama. At that time, President Sugiyama signed a memorandum of understanding with IRRI to renew the university-wide academic exchange agreement, and handed the signed document to Dr. Kohli. Dr. Kohli also paid a courtesy visit to the executive team of our Graduate School. During the visit, Dr. Kohli discussed academic collaboration between IRRI and our Graduate School with Dean Nakazono.
Dr. Kohli also visited several laboratories within our Graduate School, where Dr. Kohli was introduced to ongoing research, exchanged information, and discussed potential future collaborative research projects.
Following these visits, Dr. Kohli gave an international seminar entitled “IRRI’s Research Solutions to Climate Change-Mediated Worsening Abiotic Stresses: Strategic Approaches and Critical Results”. At that seminar, Dr. Kohli presented on IRRI’s research, international collaboration efforts, and his own research.
